Pray for Our Leaders (May 26, 2008)
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings,and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet andpeaceable life in all godliness and honesty.For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Whowill have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of thetruth.1 Timothy 2:1-4

To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness ofChrist's sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to berevealed: Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, servingas overseers--not because you must, but because you are willing, asGod wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; notlording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to theflock.1 Peter 5:1-3

Lord, have mercy on me, the sinner (May 25, 2008)
"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after thattime, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and writethem on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying,'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of themto the greatest. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remembertheir sins no more."Hebrews 8:10-12

Seek the LORD while He may be found,Call upon Him while He is near.Let the wicked forsake his way,And the unrighteous man his thoughts;Let him return to the LORD,And He will have mercy on him;And to our God,For He will abundantly pardon.Isaiah 55:6,7

Pray. Pray. Pray. (May 24, 2008)
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we askanything according to his will, he hears us.And if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we havewhat we asked of him.1 John 5:14,15

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; andlet them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of theLord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shallraise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgivenhim.Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that yemay be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous manavaileth much.James 5:14-16

When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love tostand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so thatthey may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward infull. But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your doorand pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who seeswhat is done in secret will reward you.Matthew 6:5,6
